How webquest can be applied in my classroom

I have explored some webquest sites and even learn how to go about it. I find that it is a good activity to engage my pupils in reading. I must admit that at first it is a bit challenging when I first learn about it, but this is a normal feeling when it comes to learning something new, especially when it comes to new technology.
I think I can use webquest to make my pupils do some research on a topic, then engage in reading activities to get the information needed to produce their brochure. The pupils may not even realize they actually are reading. What's great about webquest is the teacher has provided all the support needed for the pupils to come up with their product. The resources are given for their reference and there's even an evaluation tool to guide the students on the quality of their brochure.

I'm so excited and eager to try doing webquest with my pupils!

A Reading Web Quest

This is an example of a webquest I have learned to do.

INTRODUCTION
June is ‘Health is Wealth’ month and you have just accepted a job as a journalist for an online health magazine. You have been asked to design a brochure on alternative medicine to be highlighted on the company’s web quest in June.

TASK
1. You will design a brochure using the resources both online and offline for 2 types of alternative medicine (acupuncture, ayurvedic, etc).

2. Provide details of at least 2 new discoveries on using alternative medicine

3. Add in details of places to visit to obtain these alternative medicines

4. You will present your brochure during an exhibition on alternative medicine

5. Evaluate your work using the brochure evaluation tool.

PROCESS
1. Select a brochure template

2. Select 2 types of alternative medicine

3. Use online, books, and non-print resources to find the information needed to complete the brochure.

4. Complete the brochure with text and pictures.

5. Be sure to cite all the sources of your text and images.

6. Be sure to include all of the information the readers will need.

7. Use the Brochure evaluation tool to guide your brochure design and information.

8. Present your brochure in an exhibition held during ‘Health Week’

Social networking sites (SNSs) are relatively a recent trend in Malaysia. As such, not much literature regarding SNSs especially on its use among youngsters, affordances and implications especially for education in Malaysia. Apart from web analytics companies' data, Norhayati's (2009) few papers can shed some light and contribute to the pool of info regarding SNSs.

A techie's woes

Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0 .
In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as * Romance 9.5 and * Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs , such as * NHL 5.0, * NFL 3.0 and * Golf Clubs 4.1 Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2. 6 simply crashes the system.
Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do?

Dear Techie Wannabe,
First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.
Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme. html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update.
If that application works as designed, Husband1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 andFlowers 3.5.
However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5 , Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1 .Please note that Beer 6.1 is a malicious program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta.
Whatever you do, D0 NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (by default it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)
In addition, please do not attempt to re - install the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0 .
In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend * Cooking 3.0 and * Hot Lingerie 7.7.
